Why do I have Ants??

Ants are the most commonly reported pest control problem. They are social insects, which means they live in large colonies or groups. On average ant colonies can be anywhere from 3,000 to 15,000 strong.

There are many different species of ants found in Northeast America.  It is important to properly identify the ant species in order for them to be effectively eliminated.

Ants have probably found their way into your home because they have found either a food/water source or material suitable for making their nests. Once ants find either of these, they communicate this back to the rest of the colony using chemical signals called pheromones.

Examples of food sources for ants are:

  • Sugars, Fats, Meats

  • Dead insects and other organic materials.

  • Grains, Seeds, Grass

Example of Material sources for ants:

  • Water damaged wood

  • Spray foam insulation

  • Basement cracks exposing earth
